Radio Productions
I’ve been working at WFIU, an NPR member station in Bloomington, Indiana since 2003.
I began as a production assistant and have worked my way up through the organization, holding various positions, including: Interim Music Director, Chief Arts and Culture Producer, Music Director, Integrated Media Coordinator and now Director of Multimedia Initiatives.
These days, I work primarily with our online products, but while I was an arts and culture producer I created and produced a weekly one-hour arts and culture program “Artworks.”
I also produced a number of shorter segments, and I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorites:
Inconvenient Stories
This piece contains interviews with two local Vietnam veterans who are among fifty veterans profiled in a fantastic book – “Inconvenient Stories” by Bloomington based photographer and IU Professor Jeffrey Wolin.
John Linnemeier tells the story of his near death experience after being wounded in a friendly fire incident, and Timothy Bagwell talks about his experience in Vietnam and how he came to reject that experience and join Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
Looking Back
This was a preview for a new modern dance work as part of the IU Contemporary Dance Program’s annual faculty concert.
Choreographer Gwen Hamm created a new work in collaboration with composer and saxophonist Tom Walsh and vocalist Janiece Jaffe dealing with the civil rights era and the ongoing struggle for social justice.
I was pretty happy with how this piece turned out, have a listen:
